During her time there, she gained valuable insight into these populations and learned creative ways to engage and support youth struggling within this community. Alyssa’s next professional experience took place at a clinic for children on the autism spectrum, where she expanded her expertise in working with neurodivergent children, helping them build essential skills. Throughout her career, Alyssa has developed both personal and professional experience in supporting individuals with disabilities, with a particular focus on assisting those in caregiving roles.
Alyssa has also spent time supporting those affected by chemical dependency at West Pines Behavioral Health, where she worked on a team supporting individuals participating in a residential program. She played an integral role on a team of nurses, psychiatrists, and other counselors. She has come to love supporting this population and appreciates the science of addiction as she works to bring restoration and hope. Alyssa's most recent work was with the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. This deepened her expertise in mental health support, where she provided critical, compassionate assistance to individuals in moments of crisis. In this role, she responded to calls from individuals experiencing emotional distress, offering de-escalation, support, and resources to help them navigate their immediate challenges. Her experience with 988 allowed her to work with a diverse range of people, including those struggling with suicidal ideation, self-harm, and other mental health crises, honing her skills in active listening, crisis intervention, and connecting individuals with the appropriate care. This role reinforced Alyssa's commitment to mental health advocacy and her ability to provide immediate, empathetic support to those in need. Alyssa is a creative therapist passionate about helping clients navigate their stressors and build resilience. Drawing primarily from a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) approach, she works to foster wellness and healing in a way that is both individualized and compassionate.
