Allison Harvey, MA, LPC
Allison founded Benediction Counseling in 2014 and now serves as the Clinical Director as well as continuing work as a therapist. Benediction means "a good word" and is most often used at the end of a religious service when the congregants are sent away with a blessing. She is passionate about coming alongside individuals, couples and families who are in distress and desperately could use "a good word." Allison utilizes her therapeutic wisdom to guide clients toward hope and healing after painful life events. She is uniquely able to help clients navigate grief after the loss of a loved one, difficulties pertinent to highly sensitive people (HSP) and attachment-related struggles. Allison is DBT trained and enjoys leading DBT skills groups. Allison often reaches for the Enneagram as a great tool for personal awareness and growth.
Allison earned a Bachelor of Science (Biomedical Sciences) degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 2005, and received her Master's of Arts in Counseling from Denver Seminary in 2010.
Allison is also passionate about mentoring and serving as a supervisor for newer therapists. She has a strong belief that the community at large is stronger and healthier when therapists befriend and support each other. She loves to train and empower therapists to serve clients with knowledge, sensitivity, cultural awareness and a strong ethical conviction.
The other hats Allison wears are wife, adoptive mother, biological mother, daughter, sister and friend. She enjoys a good long walk, quiet music, a good cup of coffee, visiting the mountains and slowing down with a good book of poetry.
It's easy to feel comfortable with Allison. She provides a safe and peaceful place and takes the intimidation factor out of counseling. My time in counseling has helped to build my confidence and self esteem. I feel more whole and like my true self. I am grateful for Allison's dedication to her clients and her commitment to integrity.
Allison is amazingly gifted at listening, discerning and providing helpful and respectful feedback. Her gentle spirit and caring nature make her a wonderful counselor.
In your first few moments with Allison you will be put at ease. She has a calmness about her that permeates the room. Allison cares deeply about her patients and communicates well. I highly recommend Benediction Counseling as a safe place to go for help.
