Men's Process Group

Picture
This group is for men who sense that something has gone quiet inside them. Not in a dramatic way, but in the ordinary, accumulated way that happens when life organizes itself around obligation, performance, and keeping things together. The question the group returns to, week after week, is a simple one: What do I actually want?

That question opens onto two related territories. The first is desire itself, the reconnection with need, longing, and felt aliveness that tends to get buried under years of should. The second is identity, specifically the question of who a man is when the roles fall away: the provider, the professional, the reliable one, the version of himself that other people expect.

This is a process group, which means the primary work happens in the room, in real relationship with other men. Psychoeducation supports that work without driving it. The group draws on IFS, somatic and body-based inquiry, mindfulness, and existential and humanistic approaches. Each week carries a light archetypal lens from the King, Warrior, Magician, and Lover framework. Authentic Relating principles shape how the group meets from the start.

Deepening in DBT Group (Virtual)

After hearing the request to have a follow-up DBT Skills Group experience, we are excited to offer a Deepening in DBT Group! This is a new offering from Benediction Counseling suited for participants who have completed our Ten Session DBT Group and are looking to deepen their understanding of DBT. The group will meet for five sessions and the sessions will develop organically in  a collaborative setting between participants and the facilitator. There will be the possibility of reviewing the core DBT concepts- Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Interpersonal Effectiveness, and Distress Tolerance. Participants will be able to ask questions, celebrate victories and discuss challenges of using DBT skills. Participants will have space to bring struggles in their lives that can be explored safely and collaboratively with their fellow participants and the facilitator. Working in a group setting can be a rich opportunity for sharing one’s experience with life, receiving validation and compassion as well as a vibrant opportunity to work on parts of life that seem stuck.

Values Exploration Group

This group is an opportunity to join other participants along with a facilitator to explore one’s personal values. Our values can serve as our internal compass helping determine our decisions, behaviors and priorities. When we live in alignment with our values we often have clarity and feel in integrity with ourselves. However, when our values are unclear or we find ourselves living out of alignment with them, we can find a sense of discord or confusion. This group will be an opportunity to explore our values.

Working together we can support each other to develop our unique value systems and understand how others organize theirs. We will work to understand each participant’s highest values, how they are living in accord with those values and the places in their life where they find it difficult to stay true to those values. When one is living true to their values, one can find clarity and peace even in hard times. Knowing your values can help make decisions that are aligned with who you are, develop relationships that are truly compatible for you, and create a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Non-Violent Communication (NVC) Group

This group is an opportunity to work with other participants interested in exploring the basics of Non-Violent Communication (NVC). Nonviolent Communication (NVC), developed by Marshall Rosenberg, is a framework for expressing oneself honestly and listening empathetically. It replaces judgment, criticism, and demand with a focus on shared human needs, creating deeper connection and resolving conflicts peacefully. Participants are invited to learn in a group setting to understand their own and others' basic needs, have clarity of their emotional experience and use this knowledge to make effective requests in service of deeper more harmonious relationships. Core concepts of self empathy for self and others are key to the NVC process and offer doorways to deeper connection to self and others.

This group is currently under development and collecting interest. Please email the Group Facilitator to be placed on the email list!
