Patrick McKinney is a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate. Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from Florida State University and a Master of Arts in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Mental Health Counseling from Naropa University. His graduate training emphasized contemplative practice, mindfulness, and holistic approaches to psychological healing, preparing him to support clients in integrating emotional, relational, and spiritual dimensions of well-being.
Patrick enjoys supporting older teens, adults and couples. He works from a mindfulness-based, transpersonal perspective that supports clients in connecting more deeply with themselves, their relationships, their community, the natural world, and their spiritual life. Patrick invites clients to explore internal challenges while also creating meaningful shifts in the way they engage with the world around them. Patrick incorporates Gestalt therapy, which invites elements of personal story to become alive and present in the room. He also utilizes parts work from both Gestalt and Internal Family Systems to help identify aspects of clients that may be working against their well-being. By approaching these parts with clarity and compassion, therapy can support healing and integration into a more grounded and harmonious sense of Self. Patrick also offers EMDR, an evidence-based approach that can help process and integrate traumatic experiences. In sessions with Patrick, clients will focus on what is emerging in the present moment. Patrick helps parts that may have hardened in response to earlier experiences so they can begin to soften, allowing space for greater balance, connection, and self-understanding. |
